Caring Veterans of America is a veteran-led organization in Oakhurst, California, built around continued service, practical assistance, fellowship, and community connection.

Caring Veterans of America brings veterans, families, local supporters, and partner organizations together around a plainspoken purpose: veterans helping veterans.
CVA was built for the moments when a veteran or family member needs someone willing to listen, help identify the next step, and connect them with people or organizations that may be able to assist.
The uniform may come off. The commitment to serve doesn't have to.
Our Mission

CVA works to promote the welfare of individual veterans and their families, participate in community functions, and build goodwill with community and corporate partners.

Members participate in local functions and look for ways veterans can keep serving the Oakhurst-area community with purpose and fellowship.

CVA works with local businesses, agencies, nonprofits, volunteers, and veteran organizations because stronger connections make assistance more possible.
What We Do
Practical help, honest limits, steady follow-through.
CVA does not promise that every problem has an easy answer. The work is often about helping a veteran figure out where to begin, who to call, what information is needed, and which community partners may be able to help.
Depending on the situation, CVA may assist with direct community assistance, transportation needs, resource navigation, referrals, emergency support, or connecting veterans with other organizations better positioned to address a specific need.

direct assistance when the organization and its partners
are able to respond.
Helps veterans navigate
the next phone call, referral, appointment, or community

Veteran Stand Downs
Bringing services, supplies, and people together.
CVA has historically organized veteran Stand Downs: community-focused events that bring veterans together with service organizations, agencies, volunteers, supplies, information, and fellowship.
A Stand Down is most effective when many hands are involved. CVA's role has included helping coordinate the people, partners, and local support needed to make those events useful for veterans who attend.
Community Partnerships
Veteran support is a community effort.
CVA works with families, local businesses, community members, government agencies, nonprofits, and other veteran organizations to strengthen the support network around veterans.
The goal is not to duplicate every service. It is to know the community well enough to help veterans find the right doorway sooner.
